What it does
A composing app driven by an assistant the developer calls Aimée. You pick an ensemble, from three up to 23 instruments, record or import a fragment, and the harmonize button writes parts for everything else around it. It also generates whole classical or jazz pieces split into movements. Results land in a piano roll and a printable score with room for lyrics, and parts can be sent out per MIDI channel or exported as audio or MIDI.
In the demo
Jade runs the built-in tutorial, records a violin line from a MIDI keyboard and harmonizes it, then has the app generate a jazz symphony for a small orchestra. She routes every part out to iSymphonic to replace the internal sounds, and tries importing the export into GarageBand, which crashes repeatedly on her iPad.
Worth knowing
It is standalone with no AUv3, the internal sounds are plain MIDI, and the manual runs to 114 pages. Anyone after a quick loop sketchpad will meet a deep, menu heavy app instead.
