Demos, not reviews

Welcome to Jade Starr Music

Jade Starr is a musician, vocalist, content creator and passionate advocate for making music on iOS devices.

Through her YouTube show How to App on iOS, Jade explores the ever-growing world of music-making apps for iPhone and iPad, delivering detailed demonstrations, hands-on walkthroughs and honest insights into what each app has to offer.

From synthesizers, drum machines and virtual instruments to audio effects, recording tools and music production apps, Jade's goal is to demonstrate how these apps work in a practical, easy-to-understand way.

Whether you're a beginner exploring mobile music production or an experienced musician looking to expand your creative toolkit, How to App on iOS is here to help you discover what's possible.

You can find Jade on her YouTube channel,Patreon andjadestarr.com.au.

And as Jade always says:

What this directory is

Years of demos, each one useful long after it drops off the YouTube feed. This site puts every one of Jade's demos in one searchable place: a short write-up, her full video, the moments worth jumping to, and a link to get the app. Search "reverb" and you get every reverb she has ever covered, not just the latest.

Entries are written from the video itself. They describe what an app does, what Jade does with it in the demo, and who it is likely wrong for. They do not say whether it is good.

Why there are no ratings

In Jade's words: "How to App on iOS is all about helping viewers make informed decisions. Rather than simply telling people whether an app is good or bad, Jade demonstrates its features, functionality and creative possibilities, allowing viewers to decide for themselves whether it's the right tool for their music-making needs."

So there are no stars here, no "best of" lists, no editor's picks, and nothing can be sorted by quality. That also keeps the site honest: because some links earn a commission and some spots are paid for, a rating would turn every entry into a paid endorsement. A demonstration is not. Watch the demo, decide for yourself.

Affiliate links

A few buy links earn Jade a commission, at no extra cost to you, and each one says so right next to the button. Apple pays no commission on apps, so App Store links never earn anything. Right now 5 of 1042 entries have one.

No arrangement changes which apps get demoed, what an entry says, or where it appears in search. Nobody can buy a write-up or a verdict.

The Featured row on the home page and on each category page is paid placement. A developer pays a flat monthly fee for a tile that links to their app. Every tile is labelled "Sponsored", the row explains itself, and the spots are sold on a first-come basis with a fixed number per page.

Paying for a spot buys visibility and nothing else. It does not buy a demo, a write-up, a kinder description, or a better position in search or filters. Entries are written the same way whether or not the developer sponsors. If a sponsor has a demo in the directory, the tile links to it, and that entry reads exactly as it would otherwise.

For developers

If you make a music app or plugin and would like a demo, get in touch. The standing arrangement is simple: yes to the demo, on the condition that the directory entry can carry an affiliate link where one exists. Jade does not charge for coverage and does not promise a verdict. What you get is a hands-on demo and a permanent, searchable entry in front of people who are already shopping for exactly your kind of tool.

If you want your app in front of that audience every day, ask about a Featured spot. Every video on the channel points here, so the people on this site came to find their next app.
