Voice Record Pro 7

What it does

A free voice recorder that doubles as a file locker, an offline editor and a converter. Recordings and imports sit in its own library with ID3 tags, notes and bookmarks, and the library backs up to iCloud, Dropbox, OneDrive or an FTP server. Recording presets run 8 bit mono up to 16 bit stereo, with an advanced tab reaching 32 bit. A trim and effects screen holds echo, pitch and speed, reverb, distortion, fades, EQ and dynamics, and the converter writes mp4, mp3 or WAV.

In the demo

Jade works through the library on one of her own tracks, moves pitch and speed during playback, then converts an mp3 to 32 bit WAV and sends it to AudioShare. She closes on the recorder’s level check, stepping through the iPad’s top, back and front microphones to find a blocked one.

Worth knowing

Ads sit along the bottom and one in-app purchase removes them. There is no AUv3, so every edit is a round trip, export hides under Activities and AirDrop, and WAV exports lose the artwork.
