Ugritone Metal MIDI Packs

What it does

Downloadable MIDI groove libraries for metal and rock drumming, sold as individual subgenre packs or as one collection of more than 4,500 grooves spanning black metal, death metal, deathcore, doom, grindcore, hardcore, metalcore, nu metal, prog and rock. The files carry no audio at all, so they play whatever drum instrument you point them at, and each pack unzips to a few megabytes. They follow General MIDI drum mapping.

In the demo

Jade downloads a pack on iPad, unzips it in Files and drags grooves straight onto Logic Pro for iPad drum kits, building a metal track as she goes. She swaps tempos, edits notes, and layers blast beats and fills, showing where kit pieces the packs expect are missing from the destination kit.

Worth knowing

Nothing sounds until you supply a drum instrument, and mapping gaps mean some hits land on the wrong pad and need moving. Ugritone lists no official iOS support.
