Afro Latin Percussion Machine

What it does

A virtual Afro-Latin percussionist that plays over 100 rhythms (son, mambo, salsa, bomba and more) on congas, bongos, timbales, guiro, claves, cowbells, shakers and cajon. Patterns can be edited note by note, instruments swapped per part, and a jam dial, swing and fill controls add variation. Song Mode chains sections into arrangements, and it runs standalone or as an AUv3.

In the demo

Jade runs it in AUM, swaps congas for a cowbell in a pattern, builds a multi-section song, and sends grooves back and forth with Pop Drummer and iBassist so all three stay in sync. She closes in Logic Pro, showing the instrument-output MIDI setting needed to record it.

Worth knowing

The free download includes a few kits to try; the $22.99 unlock opens the full app. Incoming MIDI needs Sound Module switched on, which also relocks transport sync. Anyone wanting rock or electronic kits should look at Lumbeat’s other drummers instead.
