mSteps

What it does

A generative MIDI step sequencer with eight outputs and no sound of its own. Pick a genre from hip-hop to dubstep, set density and intensity, and generate; lanes you like can be locked while the rest regenerate. Per-step ratchets, probability, offset, velocity and gate, independent lane lengths, 12 patterns across 3 scenes, fills, mute groups, mutation and CC macros.

In the demo

Jade drives Digi Sticks 2 and the Mariana bass synth from it in AUM, generates across the six genres, sets a hat lane to a different length for polymeter, switches a lane to notes in a minor scale for a bassline, and saves CC snapshots that sweep filter cutoff and resonance.

Worth knowing

iPad only and MIDI only, so it needs a drum app or synth downstream. There was no manual at the time of the demo, so mutation timing is her reading of it. Revert steps back one generate only.
