What it does

A tape-style delay split into a tap display, an EQ section and a master panel. Delay length, feedback, wet mix, stereo width and panning sit on the main controls, with note divisions or free time, ping pong in either direction, tap presets, and a freeze that holds the current delay while you keep playing. Five processors act on the delayed signal only: drive, lo-fi, diffuse, dynamics that gates one way and compresses the other, and pitch with inside or outside feedback. The modulation panel matches FabFilter’s other iOS apps: LFOs, envelope generators, followers, sliders and XY pads.

In the demo

Jade runs an instance on every track of a funky jazz session, sets the feedback to run forever, then expands the tap view and draws taps in by hand, dragging each one’s level and pan. She patches an LFO to the filter, the delay time and the pitch, and works the preset banks on guitar, saxophone and a vocal.

Worth knowing

Nearly every control is a modulation target, which puts it as close to sound design as to timed echo. It is an iPad app, and a one-to-one port of a desktop plugin sold separately.
