Tapko

What it does

A 16-pad drum sampler that runs standalone or as an AUv3. Each pad takes your own WAV, AIFF or MP3 samples with up to five velocity layers, round-robins, a 3-band EQ, pan, choke groups and a built-in reverb send. A media browser with folders and search handles importing, and kits back up to iCloud or a file.

In the demo

Jade downloads the three free starter kits, imports her own kick and snare samples through the browser, assigns them to pads and opens the per-pad editor for trimming, fades and velocity. She then loads it in AUM under a MIDI controller and Octachron, and in Logic as a Drummer replacement with multi-out.

Worth knowing

The pads double as volume sliders until the play lock is on, so switch it before performing. It plays samples rather than synthesizing drums, and only three free kits ship with it, so plan on bringing your own sounds.
