Spatializer

What it does

Spatializer widens a signal without splitting it away from the middle, so the original centre stays put while the sides open out. Controls cover the amount of spatialising, a time scale, decay, input balance between left and right, presence, and low and high adjustment. A gate time reins things in when a chain gets busy, and a send mode adapts it for an aux in a host that has sends.

In the demo

Jade runs it last in a chain on semi-acoustic guitar, then heavy electric through Tone Bridge, vocals on a dynamic mic, a Hammerhead beat, and finished tracks. She pushes the amount and time scale to their extremes so the effect is obvious, then pulls them back to the subtler setting she plans to use. In GarageBand she takes Wider off hard-panned guitar tracks and puts this in its place, and adds it to a quieter double-tracked vocal.

Worth knowing

Headphones are needed to hear what it is doing at all, which Jade repeats throughout. Send mode will not work in GarageBand, since GarageBand has no aux sends.
