What it does

A fixed chain of destructive processors in one AUv3, running left to right: an input with noise and a stereo to mono switch, a maximizer, a distortion stage, an envelope and a filter that work together, then an output with dry and wet plus a frequency control. A button under each panel swaps that stage’s type, so the distortion becomes bit crushing and the filter moves between low pass, high pass and notch. Presets load instantly from one list or by hitting Set from another, and beside them sit a random button and a vary button that shifts every setting a little.

In the demo

Jade splits Hammerhead and DigiStix kits over multi-out tracks in AUM, puts an instance on each one so every drum is mangled on its own, and plays back projects built that way. She also runs it on a wavetable synth and on vocals, and ends by setting the multi-out tracks up from scratch.

Worth knowing

The signal path does not rearrange, so this is about how hard each stage is driven rather than routing. It aims at noise, lo-fi and chiptune textures, not at gentle colouring.
