Scaler 2

What it does

A chord and music theory tool that detects the key and scale of MIDI or audio you feed it, suggests chords and progressions, and plays them through its instruments or out as MIDI. Key lock maps a scale onto the keys so wrong notes cannot be played, performances apply rhythmic patterns to held chords, and a song builder chains sections into an arrangement. Later updates added Live Sync, where one instance leads and others follow its chords, multi-voice output splitting a chord across separate MIDI channels, and in 2.9 new chord sets, live chord suggestions, passages for articulation over held chords and left-handed chord charts.

In the demo

Jade starts standalone, playing chords in for detection and pruning what it misreads, then lifts chords out of a finished track through the audio version in AUM. She sets key lock and plays freely over it, loads genre progression sets, stacks performances across a sequence, builds a song and finishes in GarageBand.

Worth knowing

Opening a MIDI or audio file crashed the AUv3 at the time of this demo, so file detection is a standalone job. The download is free; everything here runs on the paid unlock.
