What it does
Rum places a dry signal inside a recorded room rather than building a reverb tail. Its spaces run from studio booths to a hallway, bedroom, kitchen and staircase, each with two microphone options and a character control offering three variations. Alongside are low and high cut, pre-delay with host sync, fatness, spread, a wet and dry mix, a stereo control that sweeps wide to mono and then inverts the sides, and a ducker.
In the demo
Jade pulls the dry signal out entirely so a crowd recording sounds like noise through a wall, then runs preset rooms over a Hammerhead beat. In GarageBand she had already split a recorded kit into its separate drum tracks. She puts Rum on a duplicate of the unsplit take, kills the dry, and uses it as overhead room mics for the kit. Clean guitar and a condenser vocal follow.
Worth knowing
The effect is subtle by design, showing up in a full mix more than on a soloed track. Jade also hits a bug: several instances in AUM crash and go red, repeatedly.
