Relic Flow

What it does

A lo-fi rhythm generator that synthesises its loops rather than playing back samples. Each pad on the grid holds one rhythm drawn from a pool the developer puts at over 4 billion, addressed by a code, and a shuffle arrow rerolls them all at once. Pads run in threes, the same rhythm an octave apart. Down the side sit volume, stereo width, reverb, echo and an interpolation control that degrades the sound toward bit crush and ring modulation. Loops export as WAV.

In the demo

Jade rerolls the grid, locks the pads she wants to keep so the rest change around them, and plays across it live. She pins loops with hold so they keep running while she opens Relic Waves alongside, exports a full set into the Files app, then records a part into a Logic project.

Worth knowing

Tempo does not follow the host, so the BPM has to be matched by hand every time. Export runs through a file browser Jade compares to MS-DOS, and she is plain about how long it took her to work out.
