OneShot

What it does

A drum sampler for single-strike samples, iPad only, running standalone or as AUv3. Sounds load into slots, up to 24 of them, each with velocity layers, round robin and random selection, pitch, filter and envelopes, two effect slots, two bus sends and its own output. Kits follow a General MIDI map, any sound can be set to choke any other, and your own samples import from Files.

In the demo

Jade builds a kit from nothing in AUM, copies one tom across four slots and tunes each copy down, then loads full kits and shows an open hi-hat being choked. She imports her own snares, saves both a slot and a kit as user presets, and finishes in Logic Pro with three multi-outs. Companion episodes audition every kit and set up an Alesis electronic kit.

Worth knowing

Imported samples arrive out of order and have to be dragged into place one at a time, which the desktop version does automatically. Extension kits are sold separately on Klevgrand’s site. In Logic the multi-out version does not turn up in a search, so it has to be found under the developer.
