Nostalgia FX

What it does

A lo-fi effects rack built from four blocks: a bucket brigade chorus, a console reverb with algorithms grouped by decade, a bit crusher section carrying speaker and noise emulations, and a cassette echo. Each block sits on its own page of a handheld-console style interface, with a global page, a freeze control and tempo sync on the timed sections.

In the demo

Jade runs an instance on every track of a lo-fi project, muting blocks one at a time to hear each on its own across drums, a house-style keyboard and a strummed guitar. She steps through the speaker models and the noise page with its ducking threshold, and finds the hidden jumping game on the high score screen.

Worth knowing

The display gets cramped when the plugin window is scaled down, which is the trade for the illustrated look. Every control is exposed as an AU parameter, so a host can modulate any of them.
