Modular Rhythms

What it does

A free Apple sound pack for GarageBand on iOS, built from modular synths and analog drum machines. It adds 12 electronic drum kits playable from the pads or the Beat Sequencer, plus a library of loops grouped in families such as Chaos Generator, Dark Automation, Deep Space Dub and Oil Tank Clank. Each family pairs a kick and snare loop with matching toppers, meaning hats, shakers and high-frequency layers.

In the demo

Jade downloads it live, runs the kits through the Beat Sequencer with randomized patterns, then goes pad by pad through all 12 before working along the loop browser stacking loops into one timeline. She closes by tracking guitar over the result through a tuner, amp and reverb.

Worth knowing

The loops sit inside GarageBand rather than in a shared library, so moving them elsewhere means dragging them into a project, soloing and exporting. Kits are electronic throughout, with no acoustic or guitar material.
