What it does
A vinyl emulation modelled on the effect in the Roland SP-404, aimed at putting hiss, crackle and instability on clean digital audio. Controls cover drive, a compressor, a fairly deep filter, gain, a vinyl noise level that can be turned off independently, wow and flutter, and a cue control. All parameters are exposed to the host for modulation.
In the demo
Jade runs it on drum loops in AUM, then in a chain with Zoa driving Pianoteq. She makes a point of muting the noise while leaving the filtering and flutter in place, so several instances can be stacked without piling up hiss.
Worth knowing
The filter and drive go a long way past subtle warmth, so it suits deliberate lo-fi more than gentle analogue colour. Both apps carry swappable graffiti backgrounds, with no option to load your own. Sold alongside the DJ Looper in a two-app bundle.
