What it does
A dynamics processor stripped back to two modes and two controls. One mode is a compressor at a fixed 4:1, in the manner of an LA-2A style levelling amplifier, the other a limiter at 12:1. There is no ratio, attack, release or makeup gain to set.
In the demo
Jade drops it after a delay that is running away into feedback to hold the level, then uses it as a track compressor on a bass part, and finally puts it on the stereo out of a mix in Logic and toggles it in and out against the untreated master.
Worth knowing
The trade for that simplicity is no control over timing, so anyone shaping transients or wanting a specific attack will need a full compressor. It uses very little CPU, which is the case Jade makes for keeping it on older hardware. A paid LevLr 2 with more stages followed later.
