What it does

A compressor and limiter with no attack, ratio or release controls. The window shows three waveform sections, the signal going in, a squeeze control in the middle and the signal coming out, so the shape the compression will produce is visible while you set it. Below that sit a three band EQ of bass, mid and treble, and a brick wall limiter that is just an on and off switch. Presets are grouped by source: full master, drums, vocals, bass, keys and guitar.

In the demo

Jade runs it in AUM across a piano loop, a live vocal microphone, a guitar part, an Inter-App Audio drum kit and an unmastered song of her own. She pushes the squeeze until the noise floor and her breaths come up and the sound pumps, then backs it off, and repeats the whole thing on vocal and piano tracks in GarageBand.

Worth knowing

Opening it as a standalone app gives only a user manual and a link to the developer’s documentation, so the processing runs as an AUv3 inside a host. Anyone who wants to dial attack and release by hand will not find those controls.
