What it does
An emulation of the Roland Space Echo, the tape echo Roland built between 1974 and 1990, which recorded to a tape loop and replayed it past the heads. The panel carries only what the hardware had: left and right input levels, a dry control, bass and treble for the echo, reverb and echo levels, repeat rate, intensity for feedback, and a mode selector with 11 positions plus reverb only. Tape hiss, splice glitches and wow and flutter are part of the model, and there is no host tempo sync.
In the demo
Jade runs it on a blues jam, a synth, drums, a vocal and electric guitar, pushing intensity until the tape loops in on itself into drones. She then patches an external LFO to the repeat rate and a second to intensity.
Worth knowing
Genuine Soundware also sell desktop versions for Mac and Windows. Anyone needing a clean, synced delay is looking at the wrong unit.
