What it does
A granular effect that captures incoming audio into a buffer and replays it as up to 50 grains per cycle. Grain size, window, shape, stereo spread, reverse probability, cycle frequency and read offset all have sync or free settings, and three pitch points set the intervals grains are transposed to, either freely or from a list of chord sets. Two effect slots, a delay and a reverb sit on an A/B path that can be crossfaded.
In the demo
Jade strips it back to a single grain on a piano part so each control is audible on its own, then builds up density, reverse and stereo spread. She spends time on the pitch triangle making chords, and on the routing, sweeping between the A and B paths so effects only catch some grains.
Worth knowing
Grain counts and animation both cost CPU, and there is a switch to disable the visuals on older iPads. It processes what you feed it, so a busy source gives mush where a sparse one gives space.
