DigiStix

What it does

A pad-based drum instrument that runs as an AUv3 inside a host. It carries a set of built-in kits covering acoustic, 80s, industrial and alt-rock sounds, a mixer with EQ and velocity settings, external controller mapping and a song pattern section. Kits can be rebuilt by dragging samples from other kits onto individual pads, or by importing your own, with per-pad time stretch, renaming and deletion.

In the demo

Jade runs it as a track in GarageBand during a drum-focused week, plays kick, snare, hats and crash parts in from an electronic kit and quantizes them. She then saves a blank user kit and assembles a new one pad by pad from a different kit’s samples.

Worth knowing

A downloaded MIDI drum loop lands on the wrong pads here, so note mapping needs checking before MIDI files play as intended. Jade covers only the basics and points to longer walkthroughs elsewhere for the deeper features.
