What it does
A multitrack recording and MIDI environment for iPad, with a mixer, editors, effects and AUv3 hosting. Version 3.6 added the in-app instrument packs: HALion Sonic Selection with around 1,100 sounds, FM Classics modelled on the Yamaha DX7 and TX81Z, Neo FM from Steinberg’s FM Lab, and a free LoFi Piano, plus a long list of stability fixes. Later versions brought audio glue, mono conversion, a search bar, tempo and time signature tracks, Iconica Sketch, DAW Project export for desktop Cubase, an Amp Rack and Bass Amp with cabinets, a tuner, MIDI file import and portrait mode. The 3.8.5 update in this demo adds system-wide Audio Unit user presets, subfolder search, a snap grid that adapts as you zoom, and MIDI Learn on the amps.
In the demo
Jade works through each change in turn: where the new preset handling sits, how the snap grid behaves when zoomed in, and what pinning the output does.
Worth knowing
The amps, tuner and instrument packs come from the in-app shop and run only inside Cubasis, where HALion Sonic Play has replaced HALion Sonic Selection. iOS-only plugins do not survive the trip to desktop, so freeze those tracks first.
