ChordBud 2

What it does

An AUv3 MIDI chord sequencer built on a theory grid, with scales down one side and the chords inside each scale across, so a progression gets tapped out instead of voiced note by note and chords can be borrowed between scales. Chosen chords land on a timeline where each carries its own velocity, octave, inversion and extensions such as sevenths, suspensions and added ninths. Blocks split into smaller divisions, drag into a new order and can be dropped on top of one another, and patterns hold separate progressions that switch from a MIDI controller.

In the demo

Jade prunes the scale list back to major, taps out a D minor and A minor progression in the key of D and drives a pure piano with it. She splits chords into sixteenths and drags the pieces around, then feeds the progression to RhythmBud for the rhythm.

Worth knowing

It sends chords and nothing else, so it needs a host, an instrument and something to turn block chords into a part. Jade pairs it with RhythmBud, a second purchase.
