Bass Hammer

What it does

A bass amp plugin modelled on the Aguilar Tone Hammer. The front panel runs a 10 dB input pad, compressor, gain, drive, bass, a sweepable mid with its own level, treble and a dry or wet mix, followed by a graphic EQ, a noise gate with threshold, range and release, and a master. An AGS button, adaptive gain sculpting, switches in an EQ curve and gain structure that respond to playing dynamics. A parallel DI runs around the cabinet and mic section with its own tone and blend, and a browser holds cabinets with mics already placed.

In the demo

Jade puts it on the bass of an unreleased FMC track and pulls it in and out so the change is audible in the mix, then plugs in an active bass and works across the panel control by control. She finishes by dropping it in place of the Bass Amp Designer on one of Pete Johns’s songs.

Worth knowing

Custom impulse responses cannot be loaded, so anyone wanting their own cabinets has to run a separate IR app ahead of it. A Windows and Mac version is sold from the developer’s own site.
