Auto Fills

What it does

A generator that writes drum fills as MIDI and sends them to another app, so it makes no sound of its own. You set which pieces of the kit can appear and at what chance, how long the beat runs before each fill, how long the fill lasts, and whether it regenerates every time round. Templates map the notes for a long list of iOS drum apps and hardware machines, and it can block the incoming beat while a fill plays.

In the demo

Jade drives Hammerhead, DigiStix and FAC Drum Kit from it in AUM, routing Octachron through Auto Fills so the underlying pattern drops out under the fill. She also points it at melodic apps, feeding chosen notes to SynthScaper and Spelldozer, and exports a fill as MIDI to drag into Logic.

Worth knowing

It is a MIDI processor, which GarageBand cannot host, so that exported file is the way in there. Something has to feed it a beat before the blocking works.
