Amen Break Generator

What it does

A loop player built around the Amen break, cut into 16 slices you retrigger by pad or MIDI note to remix the beat live. It ships with eight breaks, and eight user banks take your own loops. A remix button reshuffles continuously, freeze and gate work as performance controls, and a resizable panel adds ring modulator, filter, flanger and resample effects. Originally a 2011 iPhone app, it returns here as an AUv3 that also runs standalone.

In the demo

Jade plays slices from a MIDI keyboard, showing that a lower octave switches whole beats, then stacks remix, freeze and loop together. She records a loop in AUM, converts it in AudioShare and imports it, then repeats the process with a Logic beat.

Worth knowing

Imports must be 16-bit and exactly one, two or four bars, so anything recorded in AUM needs converting first. The slice-to-note mapping cannot be reassigned inside the app.
