Whisper Swells

What it does

A string ensemble pack for AudioModern’s SoundBox, built entirely from swells. Three articulations are included, Normale, Con Sordino and Tremolo Con Sordino, each in 1, 2, 3 and 4 second swell lengths, so the attack can be matched to the tempo of a part. The ensemble is spread across the keyboard for two-handed playing, and the presets respond to velocity and to MPE.

In the demo

Jade sends chords from Scaler into SoundBox and steps through all four lengths, dropping the tempo from 120 to 90, 60 and 30 BPM so each swell lands in time. She also layers them under an iSymphonic orchestra to show how they sit beneath a fuller string section.

Worth knowing

It needs SoundBox, which is free on iPad, Mac, Windows and Linux, and the in-app purchase there unlocks building your own packs rather than this one. Everything is a swell, so there are no short notes or sustained legato patches. It is also sold bundled with Whisper Strings.
