VS - Visual Synthesizer

What it does

Turns audio and MIDI into real-time graphics, running standalone or as an AUv3 inside a host. Channels stack like image layers, each holding a material with its own colour, blend mode, alpha, brightness, speed, radius, glow and noise, and each taking a MIDI channel as its trigger. LFOs, envelopes and audio modulators map onto those parameters through a grid. The bottom channel is the one that accepts your own photos, videos and files.

In the demo

Jade drives four layers from separate MIDI channels in AUM, one per instrument in her project, then builds a scene from scratch: choosing materials, blending them, dropping in a photo and a supplied clip, and wiring LFOs to position and radius. The frame rate counter drops as layers pile up, and she lowers the quality setting to recover it.

Worth knowing

There is no video export, so she screen records the iPad and finishes in LumaFusion. Imported files sit only in the bottom channel and cannot be animated inside the app. A desktop version exists, and Imaginando has since released VS 2 as a separate purchase with its own listing.
