Vocals 3.0

What it does

A four-pack vocal library for Audiomodern’s SoundBox sampler, around 91 sound sources and 143 presets. Pack one holds sustained choir vowels and gospel choirs from four singers, pack two holds sung melodic phrases sorted by key and by major or minor, pack three holds spooky layered pads and textures, and a bonus pack adds rises, impacts and sequences. SoundBox itself is a free download and hosts it.

In the demo

Jade imports the packs and plays chords through the vowels, then uses the mod wheel to crossfade between two singers on one patch and the vector tab to automate movement between all four. She mutes SoundBox’s four layer lines one at a time to show what each contributes to a pad.

Worth knowing

The phrase packs are pitched at specific singers and sit in narrow key ranges, so they suit scoring to a chord chart more than free playing. Unlocking SoundBox’s own instrument building needs a separate in-app pack purchase.
