Talkbox Jr. 2

What it does

A sound pack sold as an in-app purchase inside Pure Synth Platinum, the free host app, rebuilding the talkbox as a sampled instrument on that engine. Vowel sounds load as oscillators, so a patch can be set to ahs, ohs, ees, oos, buzzes or wahs, and swapped while a note is held. Four of those can be assigned to key switches and triggered from chosen keys instead of cycling round robin. Morph patches put two vowels under the mod wheel, and chord templates play polyphonically.

In the demo

Jade plays the pack live and leans on the pitch wheel, which is where the sound actually comes from, then sets up key switches so vowels change from the keyboard mid-phrase. She also runs the morph patches and the bonus DX leads, organs and synth basses that ship alongside.

Worth knowing

It needs Pure Synth Platinum. Most of the patches are mono by design, and Jade is open that the sound depends on pitch-wheel playing she finds hard, so the video is the place to judge whether the technique suits you.
