Verve

What it does

A felt piano instrument, meaning a piano with dampening material across the strings for a softer, closer sound that suits quiet and ambient writing. Behind the piano sits an accompaniment layer of pads, strings and tuned metal textures, faded in with the mod wheel and shaped by a contour dial, alongside colour, compression, reverb and a delay section. It runs as an AUv3 inside a host. The update shown here brings it in line with Steinberg’s other instruments: a preset browser with search and favourites, a sustain toggle, and a keyboard carrying key switches and chord pads.

In the demo

Jade demonstrates the new panels in Iconica Sketch and says the same additions have landed in Verve and Etude, rather than opening each one separately. The closing section shows all three loading inside Cubasis and inside other AUv3 hosts.

Worth knowing

On iOS it is bought on its own, and that purchase also unlocks a copy inside Cubasis. Android has no standalone version, so Android owners buy it from the Cubasis shop instead. It is one sound rather than a piano collection.
