Turnado

What it does

Turnado is a live multi-effect rack built around one knob per slot. Effects come as colour-coded cassettes: delays, flangers, phasers, reverbs, a guitar amp, filters, stutters, a granulizer and loopers. Drag one in and turn that slot up to bring it in. A Dictator page draws a movement pattern per slot and plays them all from one fader, pads each drive two slots at once, and every cassette has its own edit page with LFOs and an envelope.

In the demo

Jade works it in AUM over a Hammerhead beat, then Fundamental, Mononoke, SynthMaster and vocals, using the dice to swap cassettes while the slot levels stay put. She MIDI learns the Dictator to successive knobs on an Arturia KeyStep to sweep whole patterns by hand, then opens a reverse delay to build modulation from its LFOs and envelope.

Worth knowing

The download is free and demos the rack, with a single purchase unlocking it. Much of the second half is playing rather than explaining. The focus is beat mangling for performance, so anyone after a surgical mix tool is in the wrong app.
