Transfigured Orchestra V2: Hybrid Gestures

What it does

The second volume of Sonora Cinematic’s Transfigured Orchestra series for SoundBox, AudioModern’s free sampler. Where volume one held quiet ensemble textures, this one is built on gestures: rising and falling waves of woodwind, strings, flugelhorn, trombone and viola, long sustains, cinematic rumbles, low double basses and granular treatments of the same material. It holds 20 presets, many with a second layer on the mod wheel, and downloads as a 734 MB wave pack.

In the demo

Jade imports it through User Sounds, then plays all 20 presets from a keyboard with a limiter after it. She points out the colour coded key ranges, brings the mod wheel layers in and out, and runs the vector on the Crusher preset as a random path and then a figure of eight.

Worth knowing

These are long, slow builds rather than articulated orchestral writing, so they sit under other parts more readily than they carry a line. SoundBox is free, though unlocking its full features needs one AudioModern pack bought inside the app.
