Things - Bubbles

What it does

A filter bank aimed at sound design, where each band shows as a bubble on screen. Cutoff, resonance, delay time and delay feedback each have a spread control that fans the setting out across the bank, and the spread can go negative so the values run the other way. Delays can sync to host tempo or run free, in mono or ping-pong stereo, and the results range from odd short echoes to rhythms that were never played. Hard and soft clip, randomize and a parameter lock sit on the header.

In the demo

Jade puts it on a plain kick pattern from SDS Drums so each control is audible alone, adds bands one at a time, then brings in the delays and feedback to build syncopation out of a steady beat. She runs the presets, adds guitar and voice, and stacks Magma on top for a long free jam.

Worth knowing

It is at its clearest on sparse percussive material. A dense mix fed into it tends to smear, and the resonance can jump in level fast.
