Thallora

What it does

An ambient library for AudioModern’s SoundBox sampler holding 50 presets, built around slowly evolving textures and immersive pads. The palette is wider than most SoundBox packs: crickets, water, wind chimes, thunder, a guitar, an upright bass figure and a run of tension beds. Many presets are marked motion, so a single held key carries the movement without any playing.

In the demo

Jade opens with a piece of her own running several instances, then imports the pack and plays every preset in AUM with almost no effects added. She solos the four layers inside a preset to show how they combine, swaps one out for a sound from a different pack, and drags across the on-screen MPE keyboard.

Worth knowing

SoundBox is free on iPad and desktop, but editing, sample import and pack building need one AudioModern pack bought inside the app first. Jade keeps running into the lack of a search box while hunting for a sound in a large installed library, which is a real cost once you own several packs.
