Tenebris

What it does

The smallest of the five Kompose Audio packs in this show, holding two sounds for SoundBox, AudioModern’s free sampler: a pad and a lead cut from the same dark ambient material. Like the rest of the range it installs as an SBP file through Import Pack and brings its samples with it, so once SoundBox is unlocked the two presets can be pulled apart, remapped or mixed with layers from other packs rather than used only as they arrive.

In the demo

Jade plays the pad first and then the lead, holding notes so the movement in each has time to show, and that is the whole pack. She then builds the closing piece with four SoundBox instances driven by Bounce Bud, setting note lengths to a bar and a half bar so the slow sounds get room to open.

Worth knowing

Two presets is what is on offer here, so this is a texture to fold into a larger SoundBox library rather than a pack to work from on its own. SoundBox is free, but editing unlocks only after one of AudioModern’s own in-app packs is bought.
