Tapeworm

What it does

A free tape-style delay for iPhone and iPad, standalone and AUv3. Delay time is set by stretching a worm graphic on screen rather than a dial, and feedback pushes the repeats into saturation with an output limiter holding things together. A free mode animates the worm so the delay time drifts on its own.

In the demo

Jade feeds it an arpeggio from Scaler in AUM and works the worm ends and feedback to build shifting rhythmic patterns, then turns on free mode and lets it run. She finds extra parameters exposed to the host, including tape stage, amp stage and wow and flutter, and tries driving them from an LFO.

Worth knowing

There is no numeric delay time or tempo sync shown, so anyone needing beat-locked repeats will want a conventional delay. Jade could not tell whether the hidden parameters were doing anything, so treat those as unverified.
