What it does

An AUv3 effect that imposes vowel sounds on whatever audio runs through it, using banks of filters tuned to A, E, I, O and U. Up to ten vowels are on hand, each one’s frequencies editable and renameable, and five play modes cover a held static vowel, cut and faded transitions between vowels, a randomizer and a random glide. A sequencer takes up to 16 steps with a vowel per step, clearable gaps, per-step length and fast or slow step modulation. Play speed, mix, random modulation, host sync and presets sit alongside, and incoming MIDI notes zero to nine select the ten vowels directly.

In the demo

Jade runs it on a drone, on one of her own band tracks through Velvet Machine, on SynthMaster and finally on a live vocal. She finds the cut transitions leave digital artifacts on some synth sounds and that bassier material and choir-type sounds hold up better.

Worth knowing

Two versions load in AUM and the MIDI one is required to retrigger the sequence from a keyboard, which took Jade several attempts to locate on camera. With loop mode off the sequencer parks on its last step.
