SYLO

What it does

A loop-based sample player. Each downloaded pack maps its slices across the white keys from C1 to C2, and slice start and end points are dragged by finger. Loops transpose to whatever key and tempo the project is in, so material from different packs stacks in tune. Onboard processing is limited to reverb, delay, filter and stereo width.

In the demo

Jade downloads packs across vocals, guitar, future and drum categories, holds several keys together to build arrangements on the fly, and trims slices while they play. She shows the same login running on her Mac, then loads it into GarageBand over the built-in drummer and records a part.

Worth knowing

It needs an account and an active subscription, and Jade hits AUv3 crashes in GarageBand past three instances, so bouncing parts to audio as you go is the safer route. Pack preview playback was also broken on iPad at the time of the demo.
