Sounds of Clarinet for FRMS

What it does

A sound pack for FRMS, the granular synth by Imaginando, bought as an in-app purchase from inside the app. The patches are built from clarinet recordings put through FRMS’s granular layers, which is why little of it sounds like a clarinet: drones, creaking textures, choir like swells and cinematic beds, with clicks and breath noise left audible. The pack’s individual wav files are included, so they can be loaded into any layer.

In the demo

Jade plays the patches from a keyboard, mostly holding one key so the granular movement does the work, with Black Hole on the output for space. She shows the read position travelling across the waveform, reverses playback, saves favourites, and swaps one layer’s sample for another file from the pack so the change can be heard against the original.

Worth knowing

FRMS is a separate purchase and the pack downloads inside it. This is material for ambient and cinematic work rather than a playable clarinet instrument, and Jade quotes several different regional prices on camera.
