Skyfire

What it does

A cinematic pack for SoundBox, AudioModern’s free sampler platform for iPad and desktop. Kompose Audio recorded two Supermarine Spitfires, the blades turning, the Merlin engines running and the wheels in the air, and layered those recordings with synth tones to make 12 presets of drones, pads and atmospheres. Patches are built from layers that switch off one at a time, so the engine can be heard alone. It was a Kontakt library first.

In the demo

Jade runs it in AUM against Moondrift and a Spacewalk chord bed, imports the pack from an external drive, then plays every preset in order, muting layers on Red 2A to show which part is plane and which is not.

Worth knowing

The download is nearly 6 GB as wave files or 2.27 GB as FLAC, so storage matters on an older iPad. SoundBox is free, though saving and importing unlock only after one pack is bought inside the app.
