Shimmer Delay Ambient Machine

What it does

A shimmer effect built around a delay rather than a reverb. The delay block carries feedback, time, offset, level and low and high cut, an octave section sets the level and the semitones of the pitch shift, and a shimmer stage adds its own distortion. A swell sits at the input ahead of all of it. Factory presets run from ambient guitar through crystal and swell patches.

In the demo

Jade runs it in AUM on a distorted guitar fed through ToneStack Pro, bringing the delay and octave up under held chords before working through the factory presets. She then moves the same patch onto live vocals and piano, and plays out with a long improvisation where the delay sits across several tracks beside a separate reverb.

Worth knowing

Jade turns the input swell off, finding it adds little, and runs a reverb next to the app for body instead. Anyone looking for a shimmer reverb to sit on a mix bus will find this works the other way round, as repeats pitched up and fed back.
