RockDude X1000

What it does

A model of the Rockman X100, the compact headphone amp from 1982 behind a lot of 1980s rock guitar records. The chain runs stomps, preamp, cabinet and reverb into an EQ, with four preamp voicings from two clean settings through edge to full distortion. The original chorus and delay are built in, joined by a noise gate, filter, auto wah and booster. Cabinets pair with a choice of ribbon, condenser and dynamic mics that can each be moved, panned, soloed and muted, plus an ambient mic.

In the demo

Jade works in Logic on a clean chugging riff, running the factory presets first, then walking the chain module by module. She closes by putting it on both guitar tracks of an AC/DC-styled song she wrote during a one-hour challenge.

Worth knowing

Preset browsing has no next and previous arrows in the plugin, so on iOS you skip through a list rather than flicking. A desktop version is sold separately by Nembrini at a considerably higher price.
