RHINO

What it does

A guitar amp sim laid out as a chain of seven blocks rather than a picture of an amp: input, pedalboard, EQ, cabinet IRs, modulation effects, time effects and output. The input block carries a gate with attack, release and a high pass. The pedalboard holds four preamps, three pedals and a compressor, each blended by its own mix control. The cab section loads four impulse responses at once, including imported ones, with a pointer that morphs between them.

In the demo

Jade plays a seven string through it in AUM, opening with a finished metal track whose original tones were swapped for RHINO. She sets the gate by ear, works through the preamps and pedals, runs tone matching, imports outside cab IRs and blends them, then records into GarageBand.

Worth knowing

The EQ, effects and output limiter cover most of a chain, so a host’s own processing is often redundant. The download is small enough to stack instances. A desktop version for Mac and PC is sold separately.
