Quanta 2

What it does

A granular synthesizer, standalone and AUv3. A loaded sample feeds a grain engine whose count, length, position, direction and tuning are each adjustable and separately randomisable, with random tuning quantised to a scale. Two virtual analog oscillators and a noise source sit alongside and can be routed into the grain engine or heard dry. Behind that are two filters, chorus, delay and reverb, four multi-segment envelopes, two LFOs, and a modulation system where double tapping any control assigns a source.

In the demo

Jade strips the default patch back to silence and rebuilds it stage by stage so each part of the mixer is audible alone. She loads one of her own one shots and corrects the root note it guessed, runs the artist and soundscape preset folders, then builds a short ambient piece with Scaler feeding it.

Worth knowing

It is iPad only, and the preset library is a large separate download after install. Pushing grain count and length raises the output level sharply, so a limiter after it helps.
