Pure Synth Platinum

What it does

A sampled rompler whose sound banks download separately rather than shipping with the app. Jade and the video description both put the factory content at about six gigabytes, spread over five banks of roughly a gigabyte each, covering pianos, strings, solo and ensemble orchestral sections, choirs, basses, guitars, woodwinds and synths. Installation targets either the device or an external drive. Over the samples sit ordinary synth controls, LFOs, poly settings, transpose, tuning, MIDI learn and an iFX effects rack.

In the demo

Jade bought it looking for a cheaper route to orchestral sounds than iSymphonic, runs the banks off a Seagate drive and plays pianos, strings, choirs, basses, guitars and woodwinds from a Code 49 keyboard. Patches crash several times during the stream and she blames the external drive rather than the app.

Worth knowing

The download is now free with the factory sample content sold as a $19.99 in-app purchase, where Jade paid about $18 and got the sounds with it. Expansions including Creatmosphere, TGX-85 and the Yamaha libraries are priced separately.
