Pure Acid

What it does

One monophonic bassline synth and one drum channel modelled on 303 and 808/909 style hardware, sequenced side by side. Each holds twelve patterns with per-step accents, slides and gate, plus swing, pattern length and a song mode that chains repeats. Effects run two slots each for bass and drums, and an XY scratch pad sweeps filter and modulation live. Only the colour schemes are in-app purchases.

In the demo

Jade starts from an initialised patch and builds a bassline step by step, then uses copy, shuffle and the scale generator to fill six patterns before doing the same for drums. She works the XY pad and effects, runs the factory bank, and finally records multiple bass takes into AUM to chop as audio.

Worth knowing

The layout is dense and the song mode gesture is not obvious, which is what puts people off first. It is one bass voice and one drum kit by design, so polyphonic parts need another instrument alongside it.
