PRIMO for iPad

What it does

A guitar rack built around a neural capture of a boutique tube amp, with a clean channel and a high gain channel, a three-band EQ, compressor, overdrive, cabinet section with a loader for your own impulse responses, chorus, phaser, delay, reverb, a noise gate and filters on the master. A dynamic control page reads playing intensity in real time and moves gain, volume, delay and reverb with it. Stage mode holds 64 scenes of six preset slots, switchable by MIDI.

In the demo

Jade plays a seven-string and a six-string through the factory presets, imports her own metal cabinet IRs, then shows the gain meters moving as she digs in harder. She also runs synth and generative sources through it rather than only guitar.

Worth knowing

It is iPad only, so iPhone players are out, and the free download is the whole app rather than a trial. A Mac and Windows version is sold by APFX for 29 euros.
