Post-Rock Guitars Vol 2

What it does

The second volume of Sonora Cinematic’s guitar packs for AudioModern’s SoundBox sampler. Where the first volume stays closer to played guitar, this one leans into synth like textures and string inspired tones, the washed out end of shoegaze and ambient rock. Presets include granular guitars, fuzz swarms, ebow organ and deep pads, and SoundBox’s four sample layers mean a held note keeps moving on its own. MPE and aftertouch are supported.

In the demo

Jade plays through the pack preset by preset from an MPE keyboard, often holding one or two notes and letting the patch develop. She points out where the mod wheel mixes a granular layer against a bass layer, and runs three instances together at a slow tempo driven by Way Maker.

Worth knowing

SoundBox is free to download but needs one of its own in-app packs bought before editing unlocks, and this pack is sold separately on the developer’s site. At 2.12 GB it is the larger of the two volumes, and Jade suggests an M1 iPad or better.
